Working with Wire (for Adults)


Working with Wire repurposes various types of wires to create wire sculptural pieces. Participants will use chicken wire to create the basic form while old cables are stripped down to the wire contained within the plastic casings and used as decorative elements. Learn about the safety of working with wire, how to strip wires and how to knit sheet wire together to create three dimensional forms.

Jodie Davidson is a multidisciplinary visual artist and illustrator working primarily with nature, natural fibres, recycling and the environment. Her practice includes printmaking, sculpture, painting and textiles together with illustrating and writing children's books and poetry. Jodie's workshops are process based, focussed on sustainability and an awareness of the natural environment and using creativity to achieve balance.

Painting Techniques - Collage and Acrylics (for Adults)

Spend two consecutive Saturdays with artist Maryann Devereux developing a sense of freedom and spontaneity using collage in a painting. Experiment with different papers to create surprising effects and learn a variety of techniques to combine the media of paper and acrylics.

Suitable for beginners or experienced artists.

Maryann Devereux is a professional artist with a background in drafting. She has participated in solo & group exhibitions and is the resident artist at Clarke's of North Beach. Maryann works primarily with acrylics, using texture & collage to add creativity to her paintings. She teaches this method in workshops run from her studio in North Beach and as well as teaching art to people with various disabilities.
