The City of Stirling Mayor was elected at the Special Council meeting held on Tuesday 24 October 2017 for a two year term.

His Worship the Mayor; Mark Irwin was born and raised in Scarborough, attending local primary and high schools. He has a degree in Sports Science and a Diploma in Management. Mayor Irwin is married with three children who are all involved in local community groups and sporting clubs. He and his wife operated a health and fitness Business for 20 years.

Mayor Irwin is passionate about community service and has been an active member of Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club since he was 9, having held many positions at the club including President for 5 years and President/Chair of Surf Life Saving WA for 6 years while holding board positons at National level.  Among other community based roles, Mayor Irwin has held board positons on the Small Business Development Corporation, Stirling Business Association and the Doubleview Primary IPS.  Through these roles, Mayor Irwin has forged successful relationships with Local, State and National bodies.

Mayor Irwin's strength is his ability to openly discuss issues with stakeholders, he has an inclusive management style, inspiring confidence with meaningful consultation and respectful consideration of advice.
