Meals on Wheels

 
At the City of Stirling we provide a 'Meals on Wheels' service to aged and disabled residents.

We currently supply Meals on Wheels on behalf of several other local governments and you may be eligible to receive our service depending on where you reside.

The nutritious two course meals, a main meal and dessert are cooked daily in our purpose-built kitchen and delivered five days a week - we cater for one main meal a day, seven days a week (multiple meals may be purchased).  A bottle of orange or apple juice is also supplied once a week.  Currently an eight week cycle menu is in place.

The meals are delivered freshly chilled, so you can heat and eat when it suits you.

We are able to cater for some individual requirements such as texture modified meals, or specific diet related meals such as vegetarian and diabetic friendly meals.

City of Stirling food services is proud to have achieved and maintain an internationally recognised food safety program (HACCP).  This food safety system is independently externally audited twice a year and ensures the safety of your meals.


Eligibility
A referral can be made by anyone including the person needing the meals, relatives, friends, neighbours, hospital or a doctor.  Meals are able to be delivered the next working day.  The meals are available to people who have a disability or health condition that makes preparing their own meals not possible.


Assessment
The City of Stirling has adopted the Wellness Approach which aims at assisting the client to remain independent and maximise their functional independence and wellbeing.

A regional Assessment Officer (contact 1800 052 222) will make a home visit and do a Home and Community Care assessment regarding the client's health, social and personal needs.

Cost
