General Meeting of Electors
A statutory requirement of the Local Government Act 1995 is that each Council must have a General Meeting of Electors once every financial year. The City usually holds its Electors General Meeting in October of each year.
The purpose of the meeting is as follows:
- To receive the Annual Report, Annual Financial statements and Auditor's Report for the previous financial year
- Other general business
In many respects, the Electors General Meeting is similar to the Annual Meeting of shareholders of public companies, and as such the City's "shareholders", that is to say, its electors, are encouraged to attend and see how their "company" has performed during the past year.
The Meeting is attended by the Mayor, Councillors and Senior Officers who are happy to answer any questions that may arise.
Electors General Meeting 4th November 2009
In accordance with Section 5.27 of the Local Government Act 1995 and the Local Government (Administration) Regulations, Electors are advised of the continuance of the Electors General Meeting for the 2008/2009 Financial Year following the meeting's adjournment on 12 October 2009.
The meeting will be held at the City of Stirling Parmelia Room, 25 Cedric Street, Stirling, on Wednesday 4 November 2009, commencing at 6.00pm
The Order of Business remaining for consideration is as follows:-
a) Sustainability Annual Report for the 2008/2009 Financial Year.

Special Meeting of Electors
In accordance with section 5.28 of the Local Government Act 1995 electors of the City of Stirling can call for a Special Meeting of Electors by submitting a petition to the Mayor signed by 100 electors and specifying the matters to be discussed at the meeting in accordance with the regulations. The special meeting must then be held not more than 35 days after the day on which the Mayor received the request.
