Council Elections

The City of Stirling Council is comprised of 14 Councillors elected to 7 Wards.

Local government elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October with the last election held on Saturday 17 October 2009.  At each election half of the City of Stirling Councillors (one from each Ward) are elected for terms of four years.

2009 Elections

The 2009 elections were conducted by the Western Australian Electoral Commission and held under a first past the post voting system, whereby the candidate with the highest vote wins.  A Commission appointed Returning Officer oversaw the election including taking candidate nominations and supervising the count on election night.
