Chalk Up Art Competition
The annual Chalk Up Art Competition was held in February 2011 as part of the Summerset Festival. The theme was 'A Night at the Movies'. From underwater films, first kisses, the iconic Astor Theatre, Jaws and Avatar, the pavement saw it all.

Peter Farmers' piece celebrating films of indigenous actor David Gulpilil was a crowd favourite, winning the People's Choice Award and $500 cash. The Judges Award and $1000 cash went to Morris Jacobs for his imaginative and thoughtful piece of a family enjoying films through the ages.

Participating artists in 2011 were Peter Farmer, Pip Newby, Campbell Whyte, Micheli Johnston, Nick Schafer, Morris Jacobs and Pauline Tarrant.

Banners in the Terrace Community Arts Project
Banners in the Terrace is held annually as part of the WA Local Government Convention.  It involves approximately 90 Local Government Authorities from throughout the state in an exhibition of banners along St Georges Terrace and Adelaide Terrace in Perth.

Each year the City of Stirling invites schools within the City to be involved in designing a banner to represent the City. Schools compete for prize money and the chance to have their banner displayed in the City of Perth.  All schools receive certificates of participation and have their banner displayed in Cedric Street throughout August.

In 2011 Woodlands Primary School, Boyare Primary School, West Balcatta Primary School, Carmel School, Our Lady of Grace Primary School and Tuart Hill Primary School entered the competition with some great designs. The lucky winners were Tuart Hill who had their banner displayed 'in the Terraces' from 1 - 13 August 2011.
