Construction has commenced on the City's landmark $26 million Scarborough Pool facility. Set to be opened to the public in early 2018, this visionary new facility will form the centrepiece of the ongoing Scarborough Revitalisation​ effort.

Current status:​ Pool excavation has commenced. Retaining walls are complete. Service pre-works are commencing.​​​​

Pool Features

  • Eight 50-metre lanes along with four 25-metre lanes with multiple configuration options and depth from 1.2- 2.2 metres.
  • ​A separate leisure pool for fun and ​learning to swim.
  • Geothermally-heated to 27°C (lap pool) and 32°C (leisure pool) year-round.
  • 200-seat grandstand and spectator areas for competition viewing and relaxing.
  • A spacious surrounding promenade with open-air seating areas and 600m² of space for future entertainment outlets.
  • A large kiosk open to pool users and beachgoers.
  • Adjoining recreation areas with shaded areas and family-friendly zones.
  • Night-time use with extensive lighting.

Construction Schedule


September 2016 ​ Head contractor appointed for the project. Site works underway.​

January 2017 ​Geothermal works scheduled to start.

March 2017 First floor slab added.

April 2017 Roof cover put in place.

June 2017 Completion of change rooms.

September 2017 Pool completion.

November 2017 Estimated project completion date.
