Programs and Services
"P" Platers must stay below 0.02 BAC To stay below 0.05 BAC, drivers are advised to limit their drinking to:
Men - No more than two standard drinks in the first hour and no more than one standard drink every hour after that.
Women - No more than one standard drink in the first hour and no more than one every hour after that.
This is a conservative estimate that is designed to minimise the risk of exceeding the legal limit to drive. Because everyone is different, some people need to drink less to maintain a BAC level below the legal limit. This guide is based on advice from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
Do not drive if there is any doubt. Make alternative arrangements: call a taxi, catch a bus, get a lift with someone who has not been drinking, or stay overnight.
RoadSafety The City of Stirling takes road safety seriously and has a number of programs to help make our roads safer.
Some of the campaigns include:
Drink Driving Campaign We have some pubs in the City of Stirling that have signed up to be apart of the Skipper Campaign. This means that if you are the skipper out of all your friends, go to the bar, identify yourself and you get a wristband which allows you to have free soft drinks all night.
Road Safety Bus Shelter This is another new campaign that was developed by YAC in conjunction with the Nollamara / Westminister Action Group to help promote road safety by painting messages on a bus shelter in the City of Stirling. This was to raise awareness of road safety in Western Australia. Check out below for some great picture.
Neighbourhood Street Safe This is a new campaign to be launched in the next couple of months. The campaign will ask "street safe" residents to complete an on-line diary type form on any anti-social "hoon" driver behaviour they see to help the police identify trends.
Neighbourhood Pace Car Pledge This campaign allows those drivers who do not like others speeding to promise not to speed themselves. It involves signing a pledge that asks drivers to be courteous and adhere to road rules.
Once they take the Pace Car pledge they receive a bumper sticker to identify them as a pace car and become a part of the pace car group!
