Youth Scholarship Awards

The City of Stirling has been encouraging excellence in schools through the Youth Scholarship Awards for almost 35 years. It is an indication of our commitment to developing our community’s youth, our future.

Over the years many different Councillors have been involved with scholarship interviews and all have said that it is one of the most pleasurable and rewarding tasks they have as elected representatives.

The City offers four scholarship categories:

  • Six Scholarships in Academic Excellence
  • Two Scholarships in Music

The Our Community Grants Team

To celebrate the announcement of Australia's first ever Female Governor-General, we have two terrific grants for women this month.

Our Great Grant is the Sport Leadership Grants for Women fund. The program provides successful applicants with a one-off grant of up to $5000 for individuals and up to $10,000 for incorporated organisations.

Applications have also opened for the Women's Leadership and Development Programme Grants. Funding provided by the Office for Women focuses on the development of activities that contribute to public policy or service development, or that help national women's non-government organisations become more effective.

We also highlight the First Click/Second Click Computer Literacy Program, which provides learning materials and community-based grants aimed at people wanting to take their first steps towards computer literacy.

Finally, many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made an enormous contribution to developing Australia's future. National NAIDOC Week 2008 is from 6 - 13 July 2008.  The theme for 2008 is Advance Australia Fair.  For further information please visit the website www.naidoc.org.au
