Other domestic animals

Find out what other domestic animals are allowed to be kept within the City of Stirling.  This page contains information on keeping bees, rabbits, pigeons and poultry.

 

Bees

Any person wanting to keep three or more beehives must obtain a permit from the city. 
 

Pigeons

Up to thirty (30) pigeons can be kept at premises within the City of Stirling. A person affiliated with a pigeon club can apply to the City for a permit to keep an increased number of pigeons.
 
 

Poultry

Up to six (6) poultry can be kept at premises within the City of Stirling. All poultry must be kept confined in a suitable enclosure at all times.  Roosters, geese or peacocks are not permitted.
 
 

Rabbits

Rabbits may now be kept without permit subject to the following conditions:
 
• Only domestic or fancy breeds may be kept, not common grey rabbits; and
• Rabbits must be kept in an enclosure that effectively prevents them escaping.
 
The first requirement for keeping rabbits is an adequate hutch.
