The City of Stirling's Women on Wheels program is helping ladies rediscover the joys of travelling on two wheels! Men can now also benefit from our cycle training program with the launch of our new Blokes on Spokes program.
About the program
Women on Wheels is a comprehensive program of activities to help women start cycling and keep cycling. Run by women for women, Women on Wheels is fun, friendly and suitable for ladies of all ages and fitness levels.
Blokes on Spokes is a male-friendly version of our successful women-only workshops which men are welcome to join.
Learn to ride workshop
Designed for adults who have never learned to ride a bicycle, this workshop will teach you the basics of cycling safely and build your confidence on 2 wheels. Bikes and helmets are provided. 3 x half-day sessions. $45 for residents, $90 for non-residents.

Back on your bike / Cycling confidence workshop
Suitable for aduts who haven't ridden a bicycle in many years, or those who are simply lacking cycling confidence. Bikes and helmets are provided. 2 x half-day sessions. $30 for residents, $60 for non-residents.

Wheelie Wonderful Women riding course
A 12-week coached riding group for participants in our ’Learn to ride/Back on your bike’ workshops. Also suitable for women who would like to join a social riding group but who feel that they need to improve their bicycle control skills. Wheelie Wonderful Women will help increase your riding confidence and bike handling skills in a fun and social setting. Rides increase in length and difficulty each week as your skills and stamina increase.

Social riding groups - Come and Try Days
Women only social riding groups operate within the City of Stirling on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings. These groups are run by ladies who have 'graduated' from our Wheelie Wonderful Women training program and who love cycling so much that they just want to keep on riding!

In order to ensure the safety of all group members, you must be able to competently perform the following basic riding skills in order to join one of these groups.
- Start riding without wobbling
- Stop your bike in a controlled manner
- Looking behind you without wobbling OR have a rear view mirror on your bike
- Ride one handed and signal before turning or stopping
- Control your speed when riding down hill
- Use gears properly to ensure consistent speed and for safety
- Ride slowly
- Ride 2 abreast.
In addition, you must know:
- How to fit your helmet correctly
- How to conduct a bicycle safety check before starting a ride
- The road rules for cycling when riding on-road and on shared paths.
- You must wear a bicycle helmet, and your bike must be safe and in good working order.
If you do not currently meet this minimum skill requirement, please consider joining our Cycling Confidence course or our Wheelie Wonderful Women program.

Bicycle library
Bicycles, helmets, locks and car-mounted bike carriers are available for loan to those who have completed our Learn to Ride or Back on your Bike workshops.
Fix a flat: Basic bicycle maintenance workshops
Learn how to fix a puncture, put a slipped chain back on and set your bike up for maximum riding comfort.

On-road riding skills
A workshop for ladies who currently choose not to ride on road, but would like to develop the skills and confidence to do so.

Riding for transport
Would you like to start riding to work but feel a bit overwhelmed at the prospect? Like the idea of doing your grocery shopping by bike but don't know how to get to there by bike, how and where to lock your bike safely and how will you carry your shopping home? This workshop is for you!

Cycle training for children
We currently do not offer cycle training for children, however it is something that we are currently looking into. Please register your interest in this by joining our mailing list so that we can guage the level of demand for this service.
