Leisurepark is going green
In the City's quest to become more sustainable, work has now completed on the installation of a new commercial solar pool heating system, which will heat all three of Leisurepark's swimming pools. This solar heating system will reduce the amount of gas that is used to heat the pools within the facility through sunlight, which will heat the solar matting panels installed on the roof.
It will also reduce the amount of CO2 emissions that are released into the environment yearly therefore assisting in the reduction of our carbon footprint.
The annual running costs of the current gas boilers heating system dramatically reduce from an estimated $120,000 to approximately $60,000 resulting in a huge 50% reduction in the cost of annual gas utilities based on current gas prices.
Mr Craig Doncon from Supreme Heating says 'the installation of the Commercial Heatseeker material assists the centre in being sustainable. Supreme Heating's commercial range of matting is a proven, cost effective medium for aquatic centres to provide sustainable heating solutions."
Simon Capponi (Assistant Facility Manager) is excited about the new addition and is keen to find other methods to improve sustainability within the facility.
