Parks and reserves facilities

The City of Stirling currently maintains:
- 51 major active reserves
- 426 minor passive reserves
- 11 public tennis courts
- 2 swimming pools
- 1 golf course.
The City is also responsible for the management of approximately 6.5 km of coastline from Beach Road in the north to Peasholm Street in the south. Our parks and reserves have a vast array of features from barbeques and playgrounds to public toilets.

There are also many walking trails in our parks and reserves. Currently, the City has put together walking trail maps for 8 of our major reserves.
These maps include valuable information such as:
- Drink fountains
- Playgrounds
- Parking areas
- Barbeque/picnic areas

Universal access facilities
Universal access facilities in our parks and reserves include:
- Large universal access playgrounds (at Jackadder Lake, Dianella Regional Open Space, McCauley Park and Yokine Reserve)
- BBQ areas
- Drinking Fountains
- Seating
- Shelters.
The City of Stirling also provides disabled bays to most car parks adjoining these reserves, with network paths for access from the car parks. Please refer to the City-wide universal access maps below.

Carine Regional Open Space
With sports fields and walking trails surrounding 2 natural lakes, this large reserve caters for many members of the community. It is the perfect place to keep fit, maintain a healthy weight or lose a few kilograms.
Facilities include:

- Barbeques
- Skate park.
Calico, together with the City of Stirling has installed recreation outdoor markers that double as as stretching equipment at 500 m intervals along the trail. For more information and free online support visit the

Clarko Reserve, Trigg
Enjoy the ocean breeze as you picnic with family or friends at this reserve, set amongst the dunes at Trigg, just a short stroll from the beach.
Facilities include:

Playground
Toilets and change-rooms
Plenty of space to kick the football on a lazy afternoon.

Clarko Reserve
Des Penman Reserve, Nollamara
This is a large open active reserve that is great for junior and senior sporting activities.
Facilities include:
Drinking fountain
Playground
Toilets.

Dianella Regional Open Space
There is something for everyone at the Dianella Regional Open Space. Paths weave through the extensive bushland which surrounds 3 active sporting reserves.
Amenities include:

• Playgrounds
• Tennis and netball courts
• Toilets.

Herdsman Lake
Enjoy a picnic by the lake at this significant wetland and wildlife sanctuary. The lake is popular for a variety of activities including:
- Walking
- Bike-riding
- Bird-watching
- Picnicking.
There are a number of areas with shelters, toilets and picnic tables, and plenty of pathways to explore. The majority of facilities are managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation in conjunction with the City of Stirling

Herdsman Lake Map
Lake Gwelup
Considered a nature lover’s paradise, complete with a boardwalk and pathway meandering around the lake and through the bushland, this reserve offers something for everyone.
Facilities include:
- Playground
- Barbeques
- Toilets
- Tennis courts
- Cricket and football oval.

Lake Gwelup map
Macaulay Park, Inglewood
This tranquil spot has been designated a native flora reserve. A wonderful array of trees and shrubs can be seen from the footpath that winds around the reserve.
Popular for picnics and children's birthday parties, facilities include:
- Barbecues
- Shaded playground
- Toilets.
Ron Stone Park, Mount Lawley
Weeping Willows grace the lake edges and provide a touch of tranquillity amongst the hustle and bustle of city life. The park is across the road from Edith Cowan University in Mount Lawley and is ideal for a garden wedding ceremony.
Star Swamp Reserve, North Beach
Taking a walk around Star Swamp is a great way to get closer to nature. The 1.4 km Heritage Trail is wheelchair accessible, and facilities include:
- Extensive walking paths through native bushland
- Drinking fountain.

Stirling Civic Gardens
Garden beds, tree-lined pathways and a lake complement this rolling parkland, which is close to the Stirling Train Station and Mitchell Freeway. The interlinking pathways are illuminated after dusk, allowing easy access and movement through the park.

Watermans Beach
Enjoy our famous coastline with an outing to this scenic spot in Watermans Bay. Shade covered picnic tables, a playground and barbecue facilities provide an ideal way to spend the day.
Yokine Reserve
Yokine Reserve is one of the largest and most popular reserves in the City of Stirling. Extensive shaded pathways are a magnet for walkers and runners alike. The reserve is host to a variety or organised sporting activities throughout the year and is also a popular picnic destination.

Irrigation of reserves
The City of Stirling has 344 bores supplying water for irrigation to 357 reserves over a total area of 642 hectares.
The irrigation systems are controlled by a computerised monitoring system from a central location. One of the most technologically advanced systems of its type, it provides immediate control of all the City's irrigation systems, provides continuous monitoring capability, and has the ability for automatic system adjustment in the event of rain or other pre-programmed weather variables.
