Art Awards and Photographic Competitions

The City of Stirling hosts an Art Award and Exhibition, as well as a Photographic Award and Exhibition, in alternate years. 



 

ENTRIES OPEN - City of Stirling Art Award and Exhibition

 
Entries are now open for the City of Stirling's biennial Art Award & Exhibition.  With a prize pool of over $11,000, entrants will have the chance to win the Acquisitive First Prize, Local Artist Award, Emerging Artist Award and People's Choice Award. 
 
Prizes will also be awarded in the categories of: Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Watercolour, Drawing/Works on Paper, 3D Sculpture, Print Media (non digital), Mixed Media.
 
The exhibition will boast over 200 entries from Western Australian artists and will be open to the public daily
 
Exhibition Dates: Thursday 26 September - Sunday 6 October 2013
Venue: City of Stirling Reception Hall, 25 Cedric Street, Stirling
Exhibition open daily: 10am - 4pm

City of Stirling Photographic Award and Exhibition

After a fantastic opening night event hosted at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, the City of Stirling is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Photographic Award.  Judged by master photographers James Simmons and Gary Levy, prizes were award to the following works:
 
Award:  Best Photograph
Winner:  David Wingfield
Title:  Planet Perth
Judges Comments:  Great Concept, well executed, beautiful balance
 
Award: Best Photograph Runner-up
Winner:  Chris Martin
Title:  Reflections 1169
Judges Comments:  Nice light and detail, great exposure
 
Award:  Stirling Snap - Best Entry by a Stirling Resident
Winner:  Elana Halvorson
Title:  Lombok Girl
Judges Comments:  Good engagement, expression and colour pallet.
 
Award:  Best Youth Photograph
Winner:  Isaac Mouchmore
Title:  Skateboard
Judges Comments:  Speaks of youth culture in an interesting way.
 
Award:  People's Choice
Winner:  Lauren Baker
Title:  Untitled

The City of Stirling's biennial Photographic Award and Exhibition is a community based event which encourages amateur and professional photographers to enter their original work in the competition and be exhibited to the public.  The next award is scheduled to be held in 2014.
