Arts Workshops

​Mind Your Arts is a series of workshops and programs aimed at engaging and encouraging artists and the general community to develop their skills and get involved in arts activities.

 
The program changes throughout the year, with the focus on hands-on workshops and networking opportunities. All are welcome, however places are limited and registration is essential.   
   

 

Mosaic Design & Techniques for Kids (ages 8-14 years)

 
Avoid school holiday boredom with this Mosaic workshop for kids. 
 
Artist Renae Martin will guide participants through the basics of mosaic such as shaping, grouting and design composition.  All participants will create their very own colourful mosaic to take home.  This workshop is suitable for ages 8 - 14 years.
 
Date: Thursday 11 July 2013
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Venue: Henderson Environment Centre, Groat Street, North Beach
Cost: $20.00
 
All materials and light refreshments will be provided – if you would like something more substantial please bring your own lunch.
 
The Presenter:  Renae Martin's career as a Mosaic Artist began in 1999. She has been commissioned for many mosaic projects both private and commercial, the most recent being signage for the Luna on SX cinema in Fremantle. her work has taken her overseas and interstate. She has also worked in conjunction with many schools to complete mosaic art projects with students. She currently teaches mosaic art to adults and children at the Fremantle Art Centre. Examples of her work can be viewed at www.mosaicart.com.

Interpret images of your choice to create your own colourful mosaic.
 
Learn the basics of mosaic such as tile cutting and shaping, grouting and design composition. Gain skills necessary to continue with your practice at home.
 
Date: Saturday 20 July 2013
Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm
Venue: Henderson Environment Centre, Groat Street, North Beach
Cost: $25.00

Please bring: An object to mosaic onto.  Suitable objects include: small terracotta pots, a piece of plywood, cement sheet or masonite (not larger than 40cm x40cm), a tray, a large ceramic bowl, a house number, or a small table top. 
 
All other materials and light refreshments will be provided – if you would like something more substantial please bring your own lunch.
