​​​​​The Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup is a theatre-style hall established in 1978. Located behind the Karrinyup Shopping Centre, adjacent to the Karrinyup Library, the main hall features a stage and is suitable for concerts, functions and active bookings while the meeting room can be used for passive bookings as well as dance classes. This page features general information about the centre and its regular hirers, specific details about the rooms available for hire including fees and charges, as well as instructions for making a booking and contact details for enquiries.

 

Location and parking 

The Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup is located on the same block as the Karrinyup Shopping Centre, which is bordered by Karrinyup Road, Burroughs Road, Davenport Street and Francis Avenue. The facility is at the back of the shopping centre, next to the library. There are approximately 90 car parking bays as well as two accessible bays available in the Bankwest car park (off Davenport Street) and approximately 215 car parking bays as well as 10 accessible bays available in the library car park (off Burroughs Road) for members of the public attending the shops, though these may also be utilised by patrons of the community centre.

Rooms available for hire

Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup has two rooms that are available for hire on a casual ('one-off') or regular ('on-going') basis. The rooms are listed below along with their main features.  For fees and charges, please refer to the following section.Main hall of Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup

  • 250 m² in size holding up to 250 people standing or up to 180 people seated
  • Sprung wooden floor suitable for dancing and exercise
  • Ceiling fans for cooling and gas heaters for heating
  • Stage with motorised curtain and change rooms on either side with direct access to stage
  • 250 chairs and 30 rectangular trestle tables
  • Domestic grade kitchen with servery window into hallway adjacent to main hall
  • Kitchen features 900mm oven/stove, microwave, instantaneous hot water wall urn and fridge/freezer

  • 68 m² in size holding up to 70 people standing or up to 50 people seated
  • Wooden parquetry floor suitable for dancing and exercise

Fees and charges 

The following fees and charges are for room hire at the Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup. The City of Stirling's Council endorses the fees on 1 July each year and they are applicable until 30 June. The fees listed reflect the standard rate of hire; community rates of hire are available on request, however, only not-for-profit organisations verified by the City are eligible for the community rates. A bond, also known as a security deposit, is charged against all rentals.

How to make a booking

To hire the Stirling Community Centres - Karrinyup an application form must completed and submitted to the office, which initiates the booking process.  Before submitting an application form, the below instructions must be accepted/undertaken.

  1. There must be at least 15 business days (three weeks) until the first booking date.
  2. The Terms and Conditions of H​ire must be read and understood.
  3. The suitability and availability of the centre must be checked with the office (contact details listed under Administration and general enquiries).

After the above instructions have been completed, a Casual (for 'one-off' bookings) or a Regular (for 'on-going' bookings) hire application form can be downloaded and filled out. The application form and any supporting documentation, such as a Certificate of Incorporation for not-for-profit organisations, can then be submitted to the office (contact details listed under Administration and general enquiries). If approved, an officer will confirm via email or telephone, at which time a $50.00 non-refundable deposit will become due.  Payment of the deposit will allow the application form to be processed and documents confirming the successful booking will be emailed by close of business the same day.

Please be aware that submission of an application form does not, in any way, guarantee or confirm the booking. The booking process can take up to five business days from receipt of the application form.
