​​​​​The Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella, established in 1977, has recently undergone a major internal refurbishment. The centre now features a large entrance foyer, a brand new suite of bathrooms and change rooms as well as three modern, versatile, fully renovated rooms available for hire. This page features general information about the centre, specific details about the rooms available for hire including fees and charges, instructions for making a booking and contact details for enquiries.​

 

Location and parking

The Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella is located on the Dianella Regional Open Space, which is bordered by Alexander Drive, Light Street and Morley Drive. There are two designated accessible car parking bays and in excess of 300 general bays available for patrons of the centre, though the general bays may also be utilised by members of the public attending the Regional Open Space.

Rooms available for hire

Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella has three rooms that are available for hire on a casual ('one-off') or regular ('on-going') basis. The rooms are listed below along with their main features. For fees and charges, please refer to the following section.

Main hallMain hall of the Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella

    • 450m2 in size holding up to 400 people standing or up to 300 people seated
    • Wooden floor line-​​marked to accommodate four badminton courts as well as indoor soccer

    • Evaporative air-conditioning and a large fan for cooling, gas heaters for heating
    • 300 chairs, 35 rectangular trestle tables and 10 round trestle tables
    • Stainless steel domestic grade kitchen with servery window into main hall and caterer's access
    • Kitchen features 900mm oven/stove, microwave, instantaneous hot water wall urn, fridge/freezer and separate drinks fridge

    • 60m2 in size holding up to 50 people standing or up to 45 people seated
    • Carpeted floors with vinyl near kitchenette bench
    • Two reverse cycle air-conditioning units for cooling and heating
    • 70 chairs and 10 rectangular trestle tables (shared with Activity Room)
    • In-room kitchenette featuring sink and instantaneous hot water wall urn
    • Audio loop to assist the deaf and hearing impaired

Activity room

    •  36m2 in size holding up to 36 people standing or up to 27 people seated
    • Carpeted floors with vinyl near kitchenette bench
    • One reverse cycle air-conditioning unit for cooling and heating
    • 70 chairs and 10 rectangular trestle tables (shared with Meeting Room)
    • In-room kitchenette featuring sink and instantaneous hot water wall urn
    • Audio loop to assist the deaf and hearing impaired

The meeting and activity rooms are separated by a partition wall which can be opened up to access the entire area. The combined area is 96m2 in size holding up to 96 people standing or 72 people seated and has all of the meeting and activity rooms' features.  Please be aware that both the meeting room and activity room must be hired simultaneously to open the partition wall.

Fees and charges

The following fees and charges are for room hire at the Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella. The City of Stirling's Council endorses the fees on 1 July each year and they are applicable until 30 June. The fees listed reflect the standard rate of hire; community rates of hire are available on request, however, only not-for-profit organisations verified by the City are eligible for the community rates. A bond, also known as a security deposit, is charged against all rentals.

How to make a booking​

To hire the Stirling Community Centres - Jim Satchell - Dianella an application form must be completed and submitted to the office, which initiates the booking process.  Before submitting an application form, the below instructions must be accepted/undertaken.

  1. There must be at least 15 business days (three weeks) until the first booking date.
  2. The Terms and Conditions of H​​​ire must be read and understood.
  3. The suitability^ and availability of the centre must be checked with the office (contact details listed under Administration and general enquiries).

After the above instructions have been completed, a Casual (for 'one-off' bookings) or a Reg​ular (for 'on-going' bookings) hire application form can be downloaded and filled out. The application form and any supporting documentation, such as a Certificate of Incorporation for not-for-profit organisations, can then be submitted to the office (contact details listed under Administration and general enquiries). If approved, an officer will confirm via email or telephone, at which time a $50.00 non-refundable deposit will become due.  Payment of the deposit will allow the application form to be processed and documents confirming the successful booking will be emailed by close of business the same day. 

Please be aware that submission of an application form does not, in any way, guarantee or confirm the booking. The booking process can take up to five business days from receipt of the application form.​

^Please note that this facility is not suitable for 18th/21st birthday parties, bucks or hens nights.
