The City of Stirling manages 7.5km of the best coastline and surf beaches, extending from Peasholm Street Dog Beach in the south to Waterman's Bay in the north. There are many beaches and coastal reserves with a variety of facilities. Please see the list below.

Stirling beaches are well utilised and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Amenities include dual use paths for cycling, walking and running along our coast, security patrols of car parks, change rooms and outdoor showers, playgrounds, BBQ's, Heritage Trails at Trigg and Scarborough and other areas filled with natural areas and public open spaces. Most beaches have dedicated car parks with ACROD parking.

City of Stirling Beaches are the only beaches managed by Local Government that has year-round Lifeguard patrols.

Enjoy free community, cultural and sporting events between October and June each year throughout the area.

Most activity on the beach and coastal reserves including sporting carnivals, concerts and shows, photography, events, promotions and handing out of flyers or product sampling requires approval from the City. Please see our Bookings page for more information.

No alcohol to be consumed on any City of Stirling Beaches or Reserves, $200 fine applicable.

Dog beaches

There are three beaches in the City of Stirling where dogs are allowed:
  • Between Ada Street and Castle Street, North Beach
  • Between Bennion Street and Kathleen Street, Trigg and
  • Extending northwards 200m from the City’s southern boundary at Peasholm Street, Scarborough.
As with dogs in reserves, please ensure your dog is kept under effective control at all times.

Main beaches

Peasholm Dog Beach

Location: South of Brighton beach.Peasholm Dog Beach

Description: Animal exercise beach, swimming and surfing beach.

Facilities: Dog beach, doggy-doo bags, public bathrooms, showers, lawn area, dog wash, change area, drink fountain and animal drink facilities.

Car parking: Ample free car parking with flood lighting.

Closest Cafes: C-Breeze Cafe/Brighton Kiosk, Wild Fig, Grill'd Hamburgers

 

Brighton Beach

Location: End of Brighton Road, Brighton. 400m south of Scarborough Beach lifeguard lookout tower

Description: Beach - swimming, surfing and kite surfing

Facilities: Lifeguard patrols year round, public bathrooms with shower, outdoor showers Car parking: Ample free car parking

Closest Cafes: C-Breeze Cafe/Brighton Kiosk, Wild Fig, Grill'd Hamburgers

Accessibility: Footpaths only, no hard surface to beach.

 

Scarborough Beach

Location: The Esplanade, Scarborough Beach (end of Scarborough Beach Road) Scarborough Beach
 
Description: The City of Stirling's most popular beach with easy access by public transport.
 
Facilities: Beach - swimming and surfing. Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club and function room. Scarborough Amphitheatre, public bathrooms and change rooms, outdoor showers, lifeguard patrols year round.
 
Car parking: Free ample car parking including ACROD; timed car parking opposite Zanders/Coles car park
 
Closest Cafes: Scarborough Esplanade cafe strip: Dome, Boho Espresso, Hamburger Hill, Zanders, Fish and Chips, Luna Plaza Bakery, Coles, Peter's by the Sea, Plaka's, Subway, Organic Pizza's and more

Scarborough Amphitheatre

Location: The Esplanade, Scarborough Beach (end of Scarborough Beach Road)Scarborough Amphitheatre
 
Description - passive area, purpose build Amphitheatre to cater for sporting events, concerts and other large events.
 
Facilities: Shaded, tier seating and luscious grass tiers, drinking fountains, public bathrooms and showers, outdoor showers, overnight lighting, lookout viewing platforms. Power and water taps available for events only (not public use).
 
Car parking: timed parking in car parks closest to the Amphitheatre; free ample parking north and south. ACROD parking.
 
Closest Cafes: Dome, Boho Espresso, Hamburger Hill, Zanders, Fish and Chips, Luna Plaza Bakery, Coles, Peter's by the Sea, Plaka's Seafood Cafe, Subway, Organic Pizza's and more.

Scarborough Reserve

Location: north end of The Esplanade Scarborough Beach.Scarborough Reserve

Description: Grassed reserve perfect for picnics, park sports, birthday parties and get togethers.

Facilities: Grasses reserve, shaded playground, free gas BBQ's, lighting, exercise equipment, public bathrooms and shower, outdoor showers.

Car parking: Free ample parking, ACROD parking.

Closest Cafes: Scarborough Esplanade cafe strip: Dome, Boho Espresso, Hamburger Hill, Zanders, Fish and Chips, Luna Plaza Bakery, Coles, Peter's by the Sea, Plaka's Seafood Cafe, Subway, Organic Pizza's and more.

Accessibility: Wheelchair access along the dual use pathway, ACROD parking.

Trigg Beach

Location: Between Karrinyup Road and south West Coast Highway, Trigg.Trigg Beach

Description: Beach with great surfing breaks.

Facilities: Beach - swimming, surfing and kite surfing. Surfing WA office, Trigg Island Surf Lifesaving Club and function room, Clarko Reserve (BBQ's, playground and public bathrooms - phone 9205 8941 for more information).

Car parking: Ample free car parking at multiple car parks.

Closest Cafes: Kailas Cafe, Yello Cafe.

Accessibility: Multiple ramps and pathways, ACROD parking.

Trigg Point

Location: North of Trigg Beach, rocky outcropTrigg Point

Description: Surfing, swimming, snorkelling, kite/wind surfing

Facilities: City of Stirling lifeguard tower and patrols year round, Trigg Surf Life Saving Club, looking out/viewing area, public bathrooms with showers. Clarko Reserve located at Trigg Beach has a playground, shelters and free BBQ's.

Car parking: free ample car parking including ACROD

Bay Beaches

These beaches are sheltered from the weather and great for kids or people with limited swimming ability to swim and snorkel at.

Mettams Pool

Location: West Coast Drive, just north of Trigg. Mettams Pool

Description: Protected bay beach with multiple entrance tracks, swimming, snorkelling.

Facilities: Pergola, public bathrooms, showers, drink fountain.

Car parking: Dedicated car park inc ACROD

Closest Cafes: Soda, Yello Cafe, Kailis Cafe

Accessibility: :Limited - paths to pergola fairly steep.

Bennion Street Beach - including Dog Beach

Location: West Coast Drive, Trigg (900m north of Trigg Beach)Bennion Street Beach - including Dog Beach

Description: Protected bay beach, swimming, snorkelling, surfing, dog beach south side only.

Facilities: Water fountain, lookout, seating.

Car parking: Dedicated car parking inc ACROD

Closest Cafes: off West Coast Drive

Accessibility: Steps and ramps only, no disabled access to beach.

 

Hamersley Pool

Location: Corner of Hamersley Street and West Coast Drive, 1.6km from TriggHamersley Pool

Description: Small grassed area (no shade), beach access, swimming snorkelling, surfing

Facilities: Small viewing platforms, pubic bathrooms with showers.

Car parking: Limited bays along West Coast Drive or small dedicated car park 6 bays only and 2 ACROD

Accessibility: Steps only, no access to beach.

 

North Beach

Location: West Coast Drive, North Beach.North Beach

Description: Beach with multiple access tracks; submerged rocks, surf beach.

Facilities: Swimming, surfing, snorkelling, lookouts.

Car parking: Dedicated car park including ACROD.

Closest Cafes: North Beach Shopping Centre, Soda Cafe.

Accessibility: Steps only, no disabled access to beach.

 

North Beach Jetty

Location: Between Castle Street and Malcolm Street and corner of West Coast Drive, North Beach.North Beach Jetty

Description: Old jetty, dirt platform along coast.

Facilities: Showers

Car parking: Limited bays along West Coast Drive

Closest Cafes: North Beach Shopping Centre, Soda Cafe

Accessibility: None, steps only

 

Watermans Bay

Location: Corner of Beach Road and West Coast Drive, Waterman's Bay.Watermans Bay

Description: Swimming, snorkelling, surfing.

Facilities: Grassed area with shaded playground, free gas BBQ’s, public bathrooms with shower.

Car parking: Limited bays along West Coast Drive.

Closest Cafes: Ocean Dragon Chinese Restaurant.
