Scarborough’s next big step 10 October 2006
The next step in Scarborough’s redevelopment, Amendment 458 to the City of Stirling’s District Planning Scheme, is being advertised and you are invited to comment.
Amendment 458’s aim is to allow for the development of mixed-use commercial and residential properties in certain pockets of Scarborough. The buildings will have specific restrictions in place so that they contribute towards the area’s strong urban-coastal character.
Scarborough is a key metropolitan location and tourist destination and the City of Stirling wants to create an exciting hub of activity for residents and visitors.
Scarborough will not redevelop overnight, but it is expected that the planned changes to the Town Planning Scheme will provide the right conditions for an orderly transformation Scarborough into a new, vibrant and safe community.
The public consultation period starts Monday 16 October and closes on Thursday 30 November.
