Attending Council and Committee meetings

Members of the public are welcome to attend City of Stirling Council and Committee meetings, and to ask questions. A submission form must be completed in advance, with sufficient time for complex questions to be researched before answering. Find out more about how to get involved.

The Council of the City of Stirling consists of the 14 elected Councillors sitting as one body, with the Mayor as Chairperson. Council is the policy and decision making body for the City, and meets at 7.00pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month. The Chief Executive Officer and the Directors of the Business Units also attend Council meetings to assist the Councillors with information as required.

The Council meetings follow a formal written agenda, which sets out the order and details of business to be discussed. A large part of Council meetings is taken up with discussing and deciding on recommendations from the Committee meetings. Once resolved by Council these recommendations are implemented by the City’s officers.

The City of Stirling has three Committees which meet regularly.  Each committee has seven members, being one from each ward. The City has other committees that meet as and when required.  Further information on each Committee can be found under the particular Committee heading.

Members of the public are welcome to attend Council and Committee meetings. There is an opportunity at Council meetings for members of the public to ask questions. During Committee meetings members of the public are permitted to make statements (deputations) in relation to an item listed on the agenda. For further information and submission forms for public question time and deputations please refer to the links on the right hand side of the page.

Minutes of Council meetings are available to the public at close of business on the Friday, the week of the Council or Committee meeting.
