What jobs are available in the City of Stirling?
The City of Stirling is responsible for:
Planning and regulation, including building and development control
Community development
Community health, such as immunisation
Community services, including child care, library and services to disadvantaged
Recreational services such as public halls, parks and swimming pools
Environmental management, including waste management, pest control and preservation of trees
Design, maintenance and construction of local transport routes such as roads, footpaths and cycle ways.
To provide these services, the City employs a range of different occupations. Some are more visible, including roadworkers, rangers, parks and reserves workers, and librarians. But there are also other less visible positions such as cooks, computer operators, carpenters, mechanics and planners, just to name a few.

What should I expect at an interview?
If you application is promising, you may be invited for an interview.
The interview will be conducted by a panel of 2 or 3 people. If you know 1 or more members of the panel, do not expect them to help you with the interview.
You should answer questions in full, and do not assume the panel is familiar with your work history.
You will be asked 2 types of questions:

If you do not understand any questions, ask for an explanation. Panel members will rephrase the question to help you understand the question. If you need time to gather your thoughts before answering, say so and take a few moments to think!
The interview is a two-way communication process:

During the interview, the panel may ask to see the originals (or certified true copies) of certain documents as stated in the job application. If you do not have these documents at the interview and are offered the position, you will be required to produce these documents before taking up your appointment.

Why do I need to provide references?
If your application progresses beyond the interview stage, the City of Stirling will contact 2 of your recent referees and ask them some questions about your work history or other relevant information.

Why do I need to go for a medical check up?
No one can start work with the City of Stirling without first taking a pre-employment medical check up to ensure that the position will not cause injury to either yourself or others. All pre-employment medicals are at the City’s expense and carried out by our designated doctor.
